About Shirley Quakenbush:
|
Shirley was born in Michigan City, Indiana, in 1927. Currently resides in Russiaville, Indiana, with Richard, her husband of 58 years! (Note: Richard passed away early Easter morning, 2006.) Art has been an important part of Shirley's life since her days at Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Indiana. After four years of high school art courses, Shirley attended a two year commercial art course at St. Francis School of Art in Lafayette. She has also had 3 1/2 years of training at the Indianapolis Art League, influenced by Paul Sweeney's watercolors. Her talent has brought her "Best Floral - Watercolor" in the Hoosier Salon in Indianapolis, IN and two purchase awards, several awards at the Wabash Honeywell Art Center, Wabash, IN and too many local awards to count! Shirley holds memberships in the Indiana Watercolor Society, the Indiana Artist's Club, Hoosier Salon and the Kokomo Art Association. More of her work can be seen at the Hoosier Salon in Indianapolis, Alto Art Gallery, Kokomo Artworks, and the Kokomo Fine Art Center.
